About the American Democracy Project

ADP on the UM-Flint Campus

The University of Michigan-Flint American Democracy Project (ADP) is an organization that values and encourages community participation and preservation with a direct focus on civic engagement.  Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference.  We are unique because we have the support of the community in a way that is different than other campuses that currently have ADP participation.  Community members as well as organizations have partnered with the university through the funding of scholarships to not only show how much they value our minds as students but to help us hone our skills for the future we face and teach us to be “civically engaged” citizens for life. In a very short time this project has grown from only 1 faculty member involved to 9 student scholars and 1 faculty fellow.  With this said, join us in starting the conversation that will lead to the change we want to see in our community.  Think. Discuss. Act.
